Hmm... taking time to read the book - not just the chapter titles may provide more light than the "sound bites."

Good points, but I'm not sure all of them are quite as serious as the author says they are.

A great book by Jim Hancock - and a FREEBIE!! So much wisdom and such a helpful read for parents and youth workers.

I find it hard to believe that podcasts would be that high on the list. I've never met a jr. high or high school student who regularly listens to podcasts. Seems like that's more of a college/young professional demographic.

"Salvation is not a 'thing' and therefore it cannot be lost because it cannot be possessed. Salvation seems to be something that is entered into. John calls it light."
I hadn't thought of it that way before.

Definitely helpful advice - we often in our activism want to be "doing" things for God - rather than being with God and inviting Him to show us how to cooperate with Him. Youth Ministry and Youth Ministers tend to be more on the activist side of things rather than on the "Being Still" side of things. So great advice to our tribe!

Great thoughts! I know that I this is a struggle for most ministries and have just recently written a training session titled, "the Lost Art of Shepherding." Dealing with the fact that many of us have forgotten to do what we got in ministry to do in the first place.
I will post it on my site at www.studentministry101.com under resources if anyone is interested.

Best yet, it aired during a college football game.
Ingenious marketing.

Just in case anyone is wondering, these are some simple guidlines that Digg users know. They might be helpful guidliness here too:
1. Plug & Comment
Comments become the best part about these types of sites. It's fun to hear the interaction to articles that are presented.
2. Link Primary Sources
If you find an article link directly to it. Some link to their blog, where they then link to the article. That's annoying...and considered spam.
3. Avoid Spamming
This is where you constantly submit only your material for review.
Here are other tips:

Good, idea. I'm already addicted to Digg... maybe this will be a fun productive alternative to Digg for me... or even more a distraction. Thanks!

It's true that the producers' methods are questionable. I don't know what the answer to this question is, but I will ask it anyway: does this differ from Rahab lying when she hid the Israelite spies?
One thing that is for sure: the producers did not use any tactics not common in documentary filmmaking. That definitely doesn't make it right, but what I expect is that a much bigger deal will be made out of Expelled's use of misrepresentation of purpose than somebody like Michael Moore's.
Maybe that's justified based on the higher standard we should be holding ourselves to, but it's interesting nonetheless.

There is something that disturbs me though about the movie. If you've read from the perspective of Richard Dawkins (very much a respected Athiest) how seemingly deceptive the people were conducting interviews. Whether this is just perceived or true still hurts the effectiveness of this fill.
Appearently PZ Myers was expelled from the theatre at the showing and here's a blog detailing Richard's own experience. This does not help the Christian cause. Does this communicate Loving our Enemies, or making our "enemies" even more enemyish?
Sad, but I think there is credit to what they are saying. Even, us Christians need to do better at communicating our intentions rather than using the world's methods of deception. We are being held accountable!

Very helpful Steve. You say, 'Conferences offer generalized information in need of localization, I agree. The most critical time for personal and ministry growth is post-conference, when the inspiration and learning is applied in real contexts (or not!).

I'm still mulling over this one. Thought provoking. I appreciate Steve's perspective.
