Great reminders on unity, man, especially the last one.

Tracking some things as a church is important, such as finances, church involvement, conversions, stuff like that. But sometimes I think we get over-analytical and start to track EVERYTHING, which honestly just gets cumbersome for me and kinda pointless.

I am still being set free from the chains of this type of ministry. Was apart of one for about 10years. Started separateing from the teaching about six of those 10years, still being freed yet almost 20years after first being influneced by this false teaching

I don't understand why tracking what is happening in ministry is not very important. If we are truly leading our ministries don't you think that we should be paying attention to trends and what may be expected every year on this particular month or weekend? How are we doing numerically, because it really does matter. just my thoughts!

I used to use AOL IM for text messaging, but it's really cumbersome if you have a large group of kids. Plus, there's no easy way for students to automatically and unsubscribe themselves from the text list, which means you have to manually manage the whole thing. Furthermore, you can't queue up messages and YG reminders to automatically send in the future either. But, I guess you get what you pay for, too.

Personally, I don't see much of a need to track lots of stuff in ministry, but I guess the type A engineer-type people do. *shrugs*

I use Google Docs to share files between my Macbook Pro and iMac, so I can work on them from any computer. Unfortunately, Google Docs doesn't have all the keyboard shortcuts I'm used to using in Word. I'll also start using Google Docs to share a couple documents with my administrative assistant so I don't have to keep printing her updated copies whenever I make changes.

It was bound to happen. At least this is better than the Christian DDR... somehow. I'm not sure how, but it doesn't feel quite so embarrassing.

We started implementing something like this this summer. Our youth group blogged from all their summer trips, our Children's Pastor blogged our VBS, and the Mission Team blogged their trip in Mexico (which was great, because our Senior Pastor was detained at customs!) It was an incredibly positive experience, and we got loads of positive feedback. We are having a hard time getting it in front of the church as a whole though. I think that blog-driven church websites are going to be important in the near future... but I don't know how to capitalize on this with non-bloggers in the meanwhile. Ok, this is becoming its own post. Sorry.

I am sure this is one of a range of things that makes a site effective. What I feel is particularly important is making the site accessible, indeed prioritized, to outsiders. Not to be too critical, but the thing I find most ironic about churchmarketingonline.com is that they talk a lot about SEO, design and marketing, but the site itself is so... not any of that. The white text on brown background is hard to read, the text is small, and the design looks like a site from the early 90s.

Yeah, the desire to blog had been rattling around for a while, I finally just jumped in. I'm not sure why you can't comment, I changed design this week, and while it worked fine on my test blog, it's gone all "bermuda triangle" with my comments now. I'll work it out.
